LA1: CARRY OUT A PRE-PRODUCTION (PROPOSAL)
The longline
My script will be a horror based genre, it will mainly be a chase seen through a haunted forest with someone being chased by someone or something. It will be about 3-5 minutes long and will be set at night to give it a more scarier vibe.
Screenplay structure
Act 1: While taking a midnight walk through the forest Bob notices a suspicious looking bag shaped like a body. He moves closer to have a better look. (1-1.30minutes)
Act 2: At this point Bob has opened the bag and noticed its a body of a dead man, he gets scared and runs away screaming. When he turns around someone or something grabs him by the leg, he falls to the ground but when he gets back up no one is there but he still continues to run. (2minutes)
Act 3: Bob makes a near escape from the mysterious thing chasing him, he makes it to a road but there is no one in sight. He stands on the edge of the forest, before he can make an escape a hand pulls him back into the forest. (2minutes)
Characters
The killer: A mysteries hooded figure that the audience will never really see the face.
The Victim: A young boy named "Bob" who discovers the dead body in a creepy forest.
The monster: The audience never really see the "monster", no one knows what it really looks like.
Film treatment
It was a dark night and Bob was taking a midnight walk through the haunted forest that was surrounded by a busy road, once Bob entered the forest he instantly noticed something was watching him from a distance. He was about a mile into the forest when he noticed the thing that was watching him was gone.
Now near the centre of the forest where a fallen tree was laying, he noticed a suspicious looking bag shaped like a body. He was curious and scared so he approached the body shaped bag slowly with caution, once he got closer he noticed there was a trail of blood leading to the area of the body.
Once he approached the bag he slowly put his hand out to pull down the bag to reveal what it was, he pulled it down. It was a body and he was dead. Before Bob could run something grabbed him by the leg and made him fall to the floor, he jumped to his feet and ran. The mysterious thing that was watching him was now chasing him with high speed, its big glowing eyes were catching up with Bob.
It was still chasing him down, he didn't stop. It caught his leg again but this time it injured him, he was feet away from the safe road but he couldn't run any more so he crawled. He made it to the road, he thought he escaped. But a hand grabbed him and pulled him back into the forest.
Target Audience
The usual age for the target audience of a horror film is 15- 25. The most common reason for this is that young adults and teenagers enjoy thrills. These thrills are more likely to excite a younger audience rather than an older one.

Here you can see a set of data collected over roughly 10 years. As you can see people between the age of 15-24 years old like to watch horror movies a lot more than any other age.
